The workshop was lead by Om Prakash Galav, who is an expert potter with more than 22 years of experience. The art of Kagzi pottery has been a specialty of the Alwar district of Rajasthan for the last many hundred years & he has mastered that art skill. He has received many National and International Awards, including two Limca Book Records and four Unique World Records. Promoting India’s handicrafts sector and showcasing this often overlooked skill while highlighting India’s contribution to this cottage industry has been an essential part of his journey. Join this series of workshops to expand your knowledge and own a new skill. Learn the rare art of clay crafting a desi way. The workshop was divided into two segments: the first one was pot making, techniques of using clay & how the clay is centered on the wheel as it turns. Observe how he uses his fingers and thumb in opening the clay and give beautiful cutwork, texture and shape of the pottery & newly shaped articles are turned and burnished by rubbing the clay with a semi-precious stone, followed by making the pottery more watertight and varnishing with a glossy shine. The second segment was going along the first one, only for the rest of the students. It was about making a miniature bird with detailing. All the students made pots which was a unique experience & we also made miniature birds. All in all, it was a very quirky and engaging workshop that introduced me to something quite fascinating. At first, it seems to be an easy process but when it came to doing it by yourself it was very difficult. An awesome outcome could be achieved with patience, even though you think you're going to reach your goal you still got to move with proper concentration to achieve the desired shape. The process of making the pot on the wheel was satisfying and the results were unexpected. Overall it was a very awesome and knowledgeable process.

Workshop conducted by Susovan Mazumder at School of Design. The workshop was spread over 5 days with 25 hours of intense sketching and amazing output by the students. The workshop introduced and strengthened the fundamentals of Product Sketching and provided the participants with essential skills for idea exploration, communication, and presentation through sketches. The session proved invaluable for all those who wanted to learn to sketch like how designers do and also work on creating a portfolio of designs.
